Today is still a beautiful day that each of us should be thankful for. Set positive intentions for this following week ahead and seek gratitude for all of the wonderful things we take for granted.

  • Re-educate yourself: Don’t think because you finished school years ago that you’re all done, or you’re simply too good and you know everything. Because YOU DON’T! Sorry to break it to you but there’s always someone smarter, making more money, or operating more businesses than you. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles. However what differentiates you from Joe Shmoe in the office next door is the fact that you study Spanish, and business on the side once or twice a week, and your resume slowly builds which can lead to potential opportunity and gives you more opportunity to relate to people/ clients.
  • Find yourself 1 / 2 mentors: If you’re stuck on the path of not knowing which industry to pursue or which business to start it’s best to get information from someone at a higher point then you are at, who will give you a non-biased opinion. Don’t underestimate your potential, even if it is an unrealistic idea, don’t be afraid to look into it.
  • Seek all potential in your role: You aren’t a job title, so don’t think of yourself as being defined as one specific role, and don’t assume you will stick to one career your entire life.

Beauty for the beauties

Ladies ladies, I have some beautiiiii-filled news for you.

It’s hard enough finding the time to keep yourself looking fabulous 24/7 but fortunately, I have a place for you to re-vamp your look. The Beauty Bar is a one-stop shop for all beauty needs for men and women. They currently have three locations in Toronto, filled with a personable, energetic team of staff that genuinely want you to look and feel your best. Some of my favorite services the Beauty Bar offers are their Hydrafacials, teeth whitening, and preventative botox.

Hydrafacials: The only hydra-dermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more beautiful skin with no discomfort or downtime. The treatment is soothing, moisturizing, non-invasive and non-irritating. After you’re finished your face literally is glowing and you can tell your skin is much happier than before.

Teeth Whitening: Coffee, red wine, beets, oh my! Yes, all very delicious but not so amazing for our teeth. As time goes on a dark color tints those pearly whites of yours making it hard to maintain your superstar smile. That’s when teeth whitening comes in hand! It can take as little as sitting in a chair for 20 minutes, and Viola! Your teeth can appear up to 4 shades whiter, which will make your selfie game that much better 😉

Preventative Botox: Life is filled with smiles and frowns and unfortunately as time goes by it’s hard to maintain that baby face of yours which is when preventative botox comes in hand! I think preventing anything we don’t want in life is a smart way to go which is why I truly believe in preventative botox. It’s a tiny little pinch that lasts one second and within two weeks you can start to notice improvements in your skin and face. The highly educated Beauty Bar team recognizes how many units you may need depending on your face type and educates you along the way to ensure your comfort.

Left brain or Right brain?

I think it’s interesting to continuously get to know yourself. I was someone who didn’t pay much attention in class when I was younger, but now I continuously want to re-educate myself. I decided to take a couple brain tests to see if anything has changed, and it did! Everyone will have different results, and there is no right or wrong answer, however it makes you think of the people in your life and what side they fall on or if you surround yourself with a very similar type of people.

My results: 58, which means I almost use both sides of my brain equally however I lean to the right side.

A new year ahead

2015-12-21-1450668812-6923042-newyearMy thoughts about the new year consist of trying to be a better person in all aspects of life. As I look back on 2015 it was wonderful in many ways that I am beyond grateful for, however heading into 2016 I am setting an even higher standard of what I can personally achieve and you should too.

I think it’s important to use each year as a stepping stone to create new, BIGGER goals so you can achieve the best possible version of yourself.

Everyone should take a moment to reflect on this past year, in the categories of self love, relationships, work, travel, fun, finance, the highest highs and lowest lows. One definition of success to me is to consistently push yourself and I believe that everyone can truly achieve more then they believe.

My wish for everyone is to go into 2016 with a positive perspective, open arms for new opportunities, and overall health and happiness.

Don’t stand still forever, keep moving forward.

Tis the Season

 Ho Ho Ho,

Bringing in warm wishes for everyone and their loved ones this holiday season. No matter what your religion is, what you believe in or you don’t remember to take the time to enjoy this new season ahead of us and create new memories with people you care about.

Beauty tips – From a 61 year old super model!.. And regular gal

Low and behold, the moment every woman has been waiting for…… beauty tricks from the best, Christie Brinkley a 61 year old super model, and a few from me…. the non super model.

christie-brinkley-435  Beauty Tips from US!ss

1. Embrace the mind-body connection.

According to Brinkley, there’s nothing more important to health, beauty and well-being than a positive attitude: “[The mind’s] power to influence our health is truly awesome.”

Not only has she been meditating since she was 13, but Brinkley is quick to recognize that taking care of yourself, both mentally and physically, is the most crucial part of a healthy body and all the benefits that come with it.

Feeing sad? It’ll show up on your face. Stressed? Your hair may suffer. Angry? You may opt to forgo a workout in favor of stewing over something you can’t fix right away. But if you take the time to listen to your inner voice, you can be sure to always send it positive messages and in turn, take good care of your spirit and body.

2. Seek out beauty.

And no, she doesn’t mean going after products and procedures you think might result in your own beauty.

Rather, she urges us to look to our surroundings for things that are beautiful, that bring us joy, that make us see the world in a new, interesting, enlightening way.

“I find beauty everywhere — from the beach to the woods to the cracks in a city sidewalk! It fills me up with gratitude and joy … I am transported by the magic and light, and I literally feel enlightened, both physically and spiritually, by the beauty. There’s a saying: ‘When you seek beauty in people, and in all things, you will not only find it, you will become it.’ “

3. Show off that smile.

Yes, it’s easy for someone who gets paid to stand in front of a camera to suggest a simple smile as a powerful beauty tool, but Brinkley is onto something here. Not only does smiling make you look “prettier, happier and more approachable,” it also makes you feel happy. That’s right: smiling is contagious and even if you’re faking it, it can help lift your mood.

Those good vibes you feel while smiling? They’re real, and they show up on your face. “You really can’t underestimate the power of a smile,” says Brinkley. “Joy is contagious and very, very attractive. In fact, a smile is the best thing you can put on your face to always look your most beautiful.”

4. Feed your face (and hair and nails).

Brinkley may have a private chef, but she still knows what’s up when it comes to eating for beauty benefits. Even with all the exercise and serums in the world, she admits that what goes in your mouth has the strongest influence on what shows up on your face. Here are some of her favorite skin superfoods:

  • Walnuts: the omega-3 fatty acids help strengthen skin and keep it well-hydrated
  • Carrots: carotenoids protect against UV damage
  • Kiwis: rich source of vitamin C that promotes collagen growth and prevents free radical damage
  • Green tea: an antioxidant power house
  • Tomatoes: full of the anti-inflammatory lycopene
  • Sweet potatoes: their vitamin A promotes collagen repair and growth
  • Brazil nuts: high in the mineral selenium, which prevents premature aging
  • Oysters: packed with zinc to renew and repair skin and

5. It’s never too early to start using products …

… as long as they’re the right products.

Having grown up on the beaches of California, Brinkley knows just how damaging the sun can be to our skin. So her number one piece of beauty advice? “The absolute, single most important thing you can do for your skin is to wear sunscreen. Every single day, rain or shine.” This is not a drill. Wear sunscreen!

Another crucial piece of anti-aging advice? Recognize that your “face” actually includes everything above your breasts as far as skin care goes. “I always moisturize not just my face but also my neck, ears, décolletage and the backs of my hands. (Wish I had started doing that part sooner!)”

6. Stay away from your eyebrows!

It may seem silly, but wonky eyebrows are so noticeable on an otherwise gorgeous face, and they’re just as easy to let be: “Bringing them too close together will make you look like you’re scowling. Extending out and down on the outside edges will make you look sad.”

Rather than compulsively tweeze every stray hair or stare into a magnifying mirror, Brinkley suggests stepping back and looking at your brows in the context of your entire face. And stop thinking about them as twins: they don’t have to be exactly the same. A little imperfection here and there makes them look real and makes them yours.

7. Never underestimate the power of a good bra.

From posture to the way your clothes hang, a great bra that actually fits is the ultimate weapon when it comes to self-confidence and feeling beautiful.

“Probably the best thing you can do for your wardrobe is to get yourself a couple of great, perfect-fitting bras. Wearing the wrong size can wreck your look — a too-tight band will dig into your back and make bulges, and if the cups are too small you’ll literally runneth over. So it pays to get measured and fitted by a professional every couple of years.”

8. Have a morning routine.

Being successful, happy and confident starts the minute you wake up, so it’s not wonder those among us who feel this way start their mornings off right. Whether it’s a yoga practice or a peaceful cup of coffee near a window, taking the time to start your day in a way that makes you happy is the first step to feeling good, which in turn leads to looking good.

Want to know what a supermodel does when she wakes up? “[The first thing I do every morning is] throw open my curtains and say, ‘THANK YOU!’ Then I make my cup of warm water with lemon. Sometimes I add a little honey to the top edge of the cup and dip it in cayenne powder or cinnamon — the combination helps cleanse and flush out toxins, and it contains vitamin C to boost the immune system and potassium to feed the brain and nerve cells.”

9. Do you.

Even if you do everything Brinkley suggests, self-confidence ultimately comes down to doing the things that make you feel good and strong and beautiful. So do you.

“If something bothers you, it’s okay to tweak it. We could have a whole discussion here about external pressure we all face to look a certain way. But nobody can tell you what’s right or wrong for you.”

Now these tips are from myself. Embrace your inner self and your body, don t try and alter it for other people. Learn to love all flaws and imperfections, treat your body like its your best friend! I mean your going to be living in it the rest of your life.. there’s no switcharoos, no take backs. Its yours!

11. Cut people out of your life who cause you stress, wrinkles, and tears.

12. Drink lots of water… and I mean lots! In fact go pour yourself a glass right now! And don’t put vodka in it.

13. Coconut oil EVERYTHING!

14. If you’re feeling under the weather, juice some ginger and lemon, put a pinch of cayenne in it and tada! Shoot that baby back.

When in Paris, go to fashion week

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2016

With the Spring 2016 shows at Paris Fashion Week officially coming to a close, the runways in the City of Light have offered a dose of quirky, colorful and fresh designs for the season ahead. Behold the future of 2016

Take a look at some runway favs.

Louis Vuitton

On the catwalk at Louis Vuitton, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière unveiled leather motorcycle jackets in black and pink as statement looks. Staying true to the collection’s funky digital theme, futuristic mesh detailed tops, hints of embellishment and strappy black platform shoes also made their way into the collection. For a contrasting effect, loose white blouses and flowing dresses also brought an airy, lighthearted touch to the line. The wigs really made it stand out and emphasized on the blouse color.

Model Lea Holzfuss opened the show in a gray check coat, plaid trousers, and teetering Kiss platform boots. I think this trench coat is wearable with almost anything.

While the show may have been set in Paris, Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli turned to Africa for their Spring 2016 designs. On the catwalk, this translated into a sartorial blend between tribal style and traditional Italian detail. The Valentino runway revealed a peek of intricate Masai inspired beadwork, chunky statement necklaces and flowing frocks. Dresses were finished with colourful embroidered detail, dainty pleats and pops of colour. From basic black to punchy yellow, the collection was an exotic, eye-catching sigh. Yellow is here to stay.
